WELLINGBOROUGH DEANERY

In the Diocese of

Peterborough

EASTER EXPERIENCE

Experience Easter is a new initiative open to all the Churches in Wellingborough Deanery. Churches in Gloucester and Manchester that used the scheme last year saw an increase of over 50% in people attending church over Holy Week and Easter.

Experience Easter is an invitation to the whole community to enter into the events of Palm Sunday  through to Easter Day. Each Church will do this in their  own way.  For some it might mean inviting the local schools into Church. One church in Manchester set up the six stages guiding people through Holy Week, from Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, through the Last Supper and Gethsemane to Calvary and finally to the empty tomb. At each stage there were activities which invited the children to engage in the unfolding drama.
